Neat. I do like the Colorado. Very nice reclined car-like driving position, very roomy interior, sits decently high, and handles sort of like a car. The engine is pretty decent, hell of a lot of torque but sounds like garbage. The 1000rpm-ish idle sounds terribad and when you’re moving it sounds a bit more like a grown-up diesel but needs some more turbo whistle. Because turbo whistle.

7/10 would drive

This is good if it turns out to be great engine, more diesel swap options.

Yeah, they are starting to make it into peoples hands I guess. I am also amused at the complete shock that people are having to the fact that its slower than the gas truck, both towing and unladen. People still believe that lots of torque somehow makes up for a small amount of power when it comes to speed. Torque is lovely and all for beefing up the low parts of the curve, and the economy benefits of diesel are solid, but HP is HP and less of it means a slower ride.

The Colorado would be in my driveway right now, except I'm a weirdo and I want a bench seat (mostly for my dog, tbh). Why, Chevy, do you not cater to the 1%?!?

Ahhh the blackout package. Where they black out everything except for the stupid chrome rings around the fogs and headlights. I bet someone in GM and ram were like people love plasti dip these days. Let’s plasti dip some stuff and charge them an extra 1200 dollars

Just configured a diesel. You need the ZL1 package, which means that the price of this truck is nearing to $40k. Wow.

No turbo? How ya gonna make 1000 Ft-lbs of torque with just an ecu reflash without a turbo?

I’d never buy this with the diesel because I mostly need it to do car things with occasional actual truck work.

It has a turbo, you just can’t hear it. Which is sad panda.

Ugh. Which is the precise reason I won’t own one.. Ever. If I’m going to spend that much on a truck I’d rather get a Mid-Spec’d Silverado. Because bigger.

The diesel is a pretty tough sell except for a few scenarios:
1. LOTS of highway miles, like 20,000 a year.
2. LOTS of light duty towing, especially at altitude
3. Range - You need a lot un-refueled range for whatever reason.
You can say “resale” and “dat torque” and all that but for 95% of buyers, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to spec the diesel.

The engine sounds like a bunch of rocks in a washing machine then?

This is more acceptable then. A few mods and that sucker should be whistling dixie while creating it’s own weather patterns.

4. Want it to roll coal, make choo choo noises, and make it hella fast with a tune bro.
*EFI Live has already begun test tuning these, though they are a pretty legit company. The problem arises when other people write tunes for their programming.

If it idled around 500rpm it might. But it idles at 1000rpm and just sounds like a VW TDI.

Almost $40 for the cheapest diesel variant. I’ll pass.

I would love one of these things if it only had a clutch. Well, that and I’d lower it because I never intend to go off-road. It’s a near perfect tow vehicle, in my mind.

i’m sure a mufflerectomy would cure that.
